I had been wracking my brain trying to think of my next topic for blogs because I had hit a plateau and felt uninspired, so I decided to get back to basics. What do I actually use in my day to day life? Therefore, I’m happy to share with you today, one of my favorite apps.
I’d like to think that when people who know me are asked to describe me in one word, they will say “organized”. I’ve always been that way. I’m a list maker; I make lists about making lists. I enjoy writing a task (even if I just did it) and cross it off or checking the box. The Google Tasks feature of Calendars gives me that satisfaction.
In case you are unaware of the gloriousness that is Google Tasks, it is this nifty little feature that lives in your calendars section. You click it on and off to expose the bar on the right side of your calendar. Try not to be overwhelmed by the appointments nor the tasks. (I’ll introduce a super awesome tool for scheduling appointments in the next blog, called youcanbookme.com). How on Earth do I keep track of all of these things to do?
gTasks- Task Manager for Google Tasks_ developed a pretty good free app, but an even better paid app ($5.99), which syncs with your Google Tasks and calendar. What this means for me is that although I am constantly on the move and I go between devices all day long, I can check in on my iPhone or iPad and manage my tasks while not being on my computer. I find myself thinking about all the new things I need to add on my extremely long commute and use Siri to add tasks to the list. The app has helped me stay more organized. I add everything there, use a paper planner for the day’s to-do, and manage it on my phone or tablet. It’s a system that works for me.
One of the features I love of the paid version is the ability to add to to more than one device and secondly, the ability to add more than one list. This became so incredibly useful during the wedding process. My job didn’t stop and I didn’t need those two to-do lists getting intertwined! The second list feature became a saving grace.
